The National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Ms. Grace Morenike Henry, has reaffirmed the Legion’s strong commitment to improving the lives of ex-servicemen and women across Nigeria.
She made this known during a working visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General C.G. Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, 8th October 2025.
According to Ms. Henry, the visit aimed to strengthen existing institutional ties and explore more practical avenues for veteran empowerment, welfare, and reintegration into society.
She commended the Armed Forces for their consistent support, describing it as a crucial pillar in the Legion’s effort to uphold unity, discipline, and national service values.
“The Nigerian Legion is determined to deepen collaboration with the Defence Headquarters to ensure no veteran is left behind,” she said.
Her remarks touched on the urgent need to scale up structured welfare packages, mental health support, and vocational opportunities for retired service personnel.
The Chairman also called for sustained recognition of the sacrifices made by veterans and fallen heroes, stressing that their legacy must be preserved through national action.

In his response, General C.G. Musa expressed appreciation for the visit and praised the Legion’s continued efforts in supporting veterans’ causes.
He assured the Chairman of the Defence Headquarters’ readiness to work closely with the Legion in initiatives that improve the welfare of retired military personnel and the families of the fallen.
The meeting marked a renewed commitment from both parties to build a more inclusive framework for veteran support, backed by institutional trust and shared responsibility.
With this visit, the Nigerian Legion continues to advance its mission of ensuring every veteran is seen, heard, and supported in meaningful and lasting ways.
